Random Practice Drills: A Student’s Testimonial

Author: Gil Ash
Posted on June 1, 2018

“I have been doing the ‘one show bird’ random practice drill on singles at different clays course each week for the last month. I thought you would be interested in the results.

I have had a tendency to shoot much better in practice than in tournaments, even relative to the three guys I usually shoot with; one AA and two Master class. I just punched to C class in January. I can usually keep up with them on familiar targets at the local clubs, but I fall behind their performance level when we are shooting ‘virgin’ targets at a registered event.

This past Saturday I finished one bird behind the HOA shooter at a registered shoot; taking second overall and winning my class. Since starting that drill my preload ‘seeing the shot come together’ is much better on new targets.”
